Let us be honest. The internet already has enough photos of swimwear beside a pool that nobody entered.
We want the people who actually get in. The grey mornings. The windy ones. The mornings when the alarm feels deeply personal and someone still sends the group chat a message saying, “See you there.”
You might swim laps before work. You might surf whenever the forecast behaves. You might run a club, train with a gym crew or spend every spare hour near the coast. You might have 800 followers. You might have 80,000. Neither number tells us whether people trust you.
That is what matters. Real connection. Real water. A real point of view.
Who should apply for Salty Squad?
You should have a crack if any of this sounds like you:
- You swim in the pool or ocean most weeks
- You surf, run, lift, paddle or train with a local crew
- You organise a swim squad, surf club, run club, gym or community group
- You create photos or videos that feel like a real day, not a catalogue
- Your mates ask what you wear, where you swim or what session you are doing
- You can show up, keep your word and be a good human
You do not need to be a professional athlete. You do not need professional camera gear. You do not need to turn every swim into a motivational speech.
You do need to be 18 or over and based in Australia. Full stop.
How does the Salty Johnson ambassador program work?
First, apply
The form takes about two minutes. Tell us who you are, where you get in, what your crew looks like and why Salty Squad feels right for you.
We review applications every Friday and aim to reply to everyone within seven days. A person reads every application. No robot judges your beach energy.
Then, get your code
If you are approved, you choose a code that sounds like a human picked it. Your name is usually best. Think TOM, not something that looks like a forgotten wifi password.
Your crew gets 15% off their first eligible order. You also get a link that applies the code automatically, because nobody wants to type a discount code with wet hands.
Then, get in and share
Wear your Salty Johnson gear where you already swim, surf or train. Film it your way. Talk like yourself. Tag us so we can find it, share it and pay any content bounty that applies.
We ask for one reel or post a month in real water, plus a couple of stories. We would rather see one honest bit of content that feels like you than ten polished posts that could belong to anybody.
What can you earn?
Everyone starts as a Grom. Groms earn 15% cash commission or 25% store credit on eligible attributed sales.
Five or more orders in a quarter moves you to Local for the next quarter. Fifteen or more moves you to Legend. Local and Legend members earn 20% cash or 30% store credit.
Why is the store credit higher? Because it costs us less to give you gear than cash, so we pass the difference back to you. We would also quite like you to be wearing the swimmers. Wild concept.
Approved commission is paid monthly. Cash payments begin once at least $50 is owing. Smaller balances roll over. Returns and refunds are taken into account. Read the current terms on the Salty Squad page before applying.
There is more than commission
Every approved member starts with a welcome piece of their choice. Higher levels can unlock product from new drops, reposts, paid content opportunities and the chance to host a Salty Sundays in their town.
If we use your approved content in an advertisement, you receive a $50 store credit content bounty on top of your commission. The best real water content each month can also win $150 in gear through Send of the Month.
Cold, early and slightly questionable conditions tend to score well. We respect commitment and poor weather decisions in equal measure.
Can a club or crew join?
Yes. Ocean swim squads, surf clubs, run clubs, HYROX gyms and other established groups can apply as a crew.
Your club can receive its own code and earn on eligible orders. It can be a very simple fundraiser that also gives members a useful first order offer. Choose “Club or community organiser” in the application and tell us who your people are.
What makes a great application?
Specific beats impressive.
“I love the beach and activewear” is nice, but it sounds like half the internet.
“I swim at Newcastle Ocean Baths three mornings a week with a crew of twelve and want to film an honest fit video after our Friday session” tells us exactly who you are and what we could build together.
Tell us where you get in. Tell us about your people. Share a post you are proud of if you have one. Most importantly, tell us what you would genuinely make, organise or share in your first month.
What kind of content are we looking for?
Useful, funny, honest and actually wet.
Show the size you wear. Show how the cut moves. Show the windy walk down, the goggles that keep fogging up, the friend who always arrives late and the coffee afterwards.
Good Salty Squad content might be a morning swim, a surf check, a race day, a fit video, a club story, a matching print with a mate or a regular training session that people can picture themselves joining.
Your world is the interesting part. Do not iron it flat for us.
A quick word about keeping it honest
Always disclose the relationship clearly. Use the Paid Partnership label or put #ad at the start of your caption. Say what you have genuinely experienced. If you talk about the fabric, use the approved Salty Johnson product wording.
Your community should know when a code earns you commission. Clear beats clever every time.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a big following?
No. There is no fixed follower minimum. We care about trust, relevance, ideas and whether you genuinely spend time in or around the water.
Do I need to be a competitive swimmer?
No. Pool swimmers, ocean swimmers, surfers, runners, lifesavers, gym crews, coaches and active coastal people can all apply.
Can someone under 18 apply?
No. Salty Squad is strictly for adults aged 18 or over.
Can I apply from outside Australia?
Not at this stage. You must currently live in Australia.
How much does my crew save?
Your personal code gives a new customer 15% off their first eligible order. It cannot be combined with other discounts or site wide sales.
How much can I earn?
Groms earn 15% cash or 25% store credit. Local and Legend members earn 20% cash or 30% store credit. Actual earnings depend on eligible orders that your crew buys and keeps. Nothing is guaranteed.
What if I am already a Salty Johnson customer?
Even better. Plenty of good ambassadors start as customers. Apply using the same email address you shop with.
